 Antigravity in Alabama | | By: BizarreNews | Published: 02/05/2001 | | | |
| UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA - It takes liquid nitrogen to create the 390-degreesbelow-zero atmosphere necessary to float non-metallic objects in mid air. It´s true! Researchers at the University of Alabama have created real antigravity using powerful super-magnets. This could be the start of eventual efforts to allow rockets to run without propellant and power plants to run without fuel. So far they have only managed to float a live tadpole. Scientists involved in the tadpole experiment say the animal was apparently not harmed by the intense magnetism and predict that someday they will be able to float a human, if they can find two things: A powerful enough magnet and a willing subject.

Absolute zero, aka Zero degrees Kelvin, the coldest anything can get, is -273 degrees C.
The temperature of "390 below zero" is obviously in degrees fahrenheit, written for newspaper readers in Alabama, which is roughly -234 degrees C.
-234 degrees C is about 40 degrees Kelvin, so it is possible.

It really helps if ya use something that's a polar molecule--
water within and without would be nice.
And thanks to beckdaddy, I now know that levitated bullfrog
tadpoles grow up to become peepers in the spring - and if
levitated long enough, thru the summer and into the fall---
not knowing why some frogette doesn't reply.so long, and thanks for the fish

the animal was apparently unharmed by the magnetism, but how about 390 degrees below?? I bet that didn't help that tadpole. What about the "shrinkage" factor? Damn, that's cold!!Beckdaddy out.

um...isn't the lowest temperature that science uses 'absolute zero' or -273 F/-100C? This article seems about as reliable as those stories about Mikey's stomach blowing up from too many poprocks and Pepsi (apologies for the Ami cultural reference)

i remember hearing about that shit on the discovery channel. its not anti-gravity, but just a really powerful magnet. turns out that you can magnitize anything (and i mean ANYthing) if you have a powerfull enough magnet. They made a doughnut shaped electro-magnet that was powered by its own generator, and put stuff into the middle of it which had a space about 2 inches across, and made it float

those scientists in alabama are trippin again..."They just fuck you and they fuck you and they fuck you some more.
And just when you think they're done fucking you, that's when the real fucking starts"
