Born: 8 February 1920
Wallace, Idaho
Died: 29 June 1995 (from throat cancer)
Known as the "Sweater Girl". A common misconception is that she was discovered in Schwab's Drugstore. However, she was not. She skipped class at Hollywood Hiigh School and went across Highland Ave to Top's Cafe where she was "discovered" by Billy Wilkerson, owner of the Hollywood Reporter.
Best known movies are: The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946) and Peyton Place (1957). Her daughter stabbed to death her lover Johnny Stomapanato in 1958. Turner was married seven times and in the 1980's had a recurring role in the TV series Falcon Crest.
Turner's eyebrows were shaved off in the 1938 film Marco Polo, they never grew back and she wore false eyebrows in public thereafter.
