American astronaut Lisa Marie Nowak, who allegedly attacked and tried to kidnap a woman she considered a rival for the heart of a space shuttle pilot, was arrested in Orlando in February 2007. Police said Nowak, 43, drove across country in diapers so she wouldn't have to stop and use restrooms, then donned a trench coat and a wig to accost her love rival, Colleen Shipman, at Orlando International Airport in the pre-dawn hours of Feb. 5. Nowak, a U.S. Navy captain and a married mother of three, flew the space shuttle to the International Space Station in July 2006. Nowak and Shipman were rivals for the affections of astronaut William Oefelein, 41, who flew a mission to the orbiting space station in December.
