Famed R&B singer Lou Rawls was caught up in a scandal in January 2003 when he was arrested in New Mexico after his girlfriend Nina Inman claimed he beat her in a fight.

Rawls, best known for the 1976 smash 'You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine,' was nabbed by the police at the Wyndham Hotel near the airport in Albuquerque. Inman told local police that the singer grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the ground while the two were in their hotel room after his show at a local casino that night.

Officers booked the Grammy-winning singer into the Bernalillo County Detention Center on one count of battery on a household member. He was released after posting $2500 bail, and the charges were eventually dropped.

In 2005, Rawls tried to annul his two-year marriage to Inman in order to safeguard earnings and rectify hundreds of thousands of dollars that he claimed his wife absconded with. Inman acted as his manager that time.

That same year, Lou Rawls was diagnosed with lung and brain cancer. He died on January 6, 2006 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
