Former child actor Brad Renfro had his first trouble with the law in 1998 when he was arrested after police found heroine and cocaine in his front pocket. The Apt Pupil (1998) star avoided jail time by cutting a plea bargain.

After staying on the good side of the law for another three years, the talented actor who has also developed a reputation for 'bad-boy' antics was nabbed again in August 2001. Renfro was charged with grand theft after allegedly trying to steal a $175,000 yacht in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Brad Renfro, 18 years old at the time of his bust, was released from jail the same night after posting $10, 000 bail and was sentenced to two years probation. He was also ordered to pay the yacht's owner $4000 in damages.

While still on probation, the Bully (2001) star was arrested again for underage drinking. He added another violation to his probation in 2002 when he was caught driving without a license and for public inebriation. Instead of receiving a jail term, Renfro was ordered to spend 90 days in rehabilitation to fight his addictions.

The drug demons returned on December 22, 2005, when Renfro was arrested during a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) sting operation after he tried to buy heroin from an undercover narcotics officer. Brad Renfro once again dodged jail time by pleading guilty in February 2006. He was granted three years probation and ordered to enroll in an 18-month to 3-year drug treatment program to kick his heroin habit.

In March 2006, the troubled actor violated his probation and was incarcerated after being charged with driving under the influence. He was booked in LA County jail for 10 days and was ordered to attend an alcohol control program in return to the dismissal of his driving drunk guilty plea and other charges, including driving with a suspended license.

The 24-year-old star of The Client (1994) and Ghost World (2001) got more trouble in June 2007 when he violated his probation after failing to enroll in a drug treatment program. A Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney revealed that Brad Renfro was in rehab for over six months before he 'struggled' and eventually stopped attending. The once-cute kid star reportedly could be sentenced to a live-in rehab program or jail time if he repeats the violation two more times.
