Rap mogul Irv Gotti was busted by Oakland, California police in August 2003 and charged with possession of ecstasy.

The head of Murder Inc. Records, whose given name is Irving Lorenzo, was stopped at a security checkpoint backstage at the Network Associates Coliseum, during an R.Kelly concert. A search of Gotti turned up one single ecstasy tablet. And while it's not illegal, Gotti was also found in possession of Viagra. Before passing through a metal detector at the Oakland Arena, Irv Gotti took some items from his pants pocket and put them into a basket. An Oakland police officer noticed a small clear plastic bag containing some pills. Gotti tried to put the bag back in his pocket before the officer stopped him.

Gotti was booked at the Alameda County Jail, charged with possession of a controlled substance and released on bail. He was given a one-year deferred prosecution after he pleaded not guilty.

In January 2005, Irv Gotti and his brother Christopher were accused of laundering money for New York City drug dealer Kenneth 'Supreme' McGriff. They were accused of using the Inc. (formerly Murder Inc), Gottis record label, to launder up to $1 million for the known narcotics supplier. The brothers surrendered to authorities on January 25, 2005, and were released after posting a $1 million bond each. They were cleared to a raucous round of cheers from supporters and jurors in the courtroom in Dec. 2005.
