In April 2003, Blues Traveler singer and harmonica player John Popper was booked by the sheriff's office of Nolan County, Texas for marijuana possession. Popper, 36 years old at the time, was working in the Lone Star State to finish up the latest Blues Traveler's album.
John Popper was arrested again on March 6, 2007 for possession of drugs when Washington State Patrol pulled his Mercedes SUV over on Interstate 90 near Ritzville. During the search, officers found multiple hidden compartments in Popper's vehicle which held four rifles, nine handguns, a switchblade knife, a Taser, and night vision goggles.
At that point, John Popper allegedly told the officers that he was a gun collector and that he had all of the unusual emergency equipment because 'he didn't want to be left behind' in case of a natural disaster. His car was seized. The weapons were purchased and registered legally.
