CHICAGO, IL - Was a patron of the Leg Room Bar in Chicago very kind-hearted or in a drunken stupor when he left his waitress a $10,000 tip last week? David Martyn Nicholas claims it was the latter when he left the hefty gratuity to 23-year-old Melanie Uczen. Nicholas said he felt someone had clearly taken advantage of him in his drunken state. Leg Room owner Fred Hoffman noted that Nicholas must not have been in too bad of shape because he allowed the bar manager to photocopy his passport and he signed a statement agreeing to the tip. The charge was later rejected by his credit card company. The bar owners pledged to give Uczen the money them-selves because of the publicity generated by the incident.
