BUCHAREST, Romania (Reuters)
A local court in the eastern
Romanian town of Dorohoi has found temporary shelter in
the main pub, state news agency Rompres said Saturday.
It said the move had been prompted by repair works at the town's
century-old courthouse.
Local judges moved sessions earlier this month to the pub, which
had been rearranged to accommodate them for the duration
of the repairs, expected to last several months.
Rompres said judges had found the new location much more
comfortable than their old, crumbling courthouse.
Since Romania's move toward democracy after the 1989 fall of
communism, efforts to modernize courts across the country
have been impeded by money shortages.
