WICHITA, Kan.
- Students at Newman University will be in
for a surprise in Robert Beattie’s political science class this
fall: a mock trial of Charles Manson, one of the U.S.’s most
notorious mass murderers. Manson will assist to re-stage the
trial in which he was found guilty of the gruesome 1969 stabbing
and slashing deaths of actress Sharon Tate and six others in Los
Angeles. Beattie wrote to Manson who agreed to a
45-minute interview which students will use as evidence in the
case. Beattie also wants to set up a phone link so that Manson
can testify in his own defense - something Manson didn't do in
his trial
three decades ago. "The goal is learning and
education," Beattie said.
