"The only things that I can tell you is that every case I have reviewed I have been comfortable with the innocence or guilt of the person that I've looked at. I do not believe we've put a guilty... I mean innocent person to death in the state of Texas."-All Things Considered, NPR, June 16, 2000

ALICANTE, Spain (Reuters)
Two elderly people got out
of their car at a safari park in southeast
Spain and were killed
in a tiger attack Tuesday, authorities said.
Police said one victim, a man in his late 70s, was believed
to have been a resident of Spain. The other victim was a
woman, also thought to be in her late 70s.
A spokesman for El Verger safari park in the province of
Alicante said the victims ``got out of their car and were
attacked.'' Police said there were three tigers in the area.
Police also said the victims' car was found with the doors
locked about 50 yards from the
nearest body.
Officials said it was the first accident in the 30-year
history of the park, which boasts many species of exotic
animals,
including lions and tigers.
