Honest Mr. Ranger, Sir, he was going for my picinic basket
so I had to let Yogi have it
Yellowstone National Park, Wyo. (AP) - Rangers have seen and
increase in the number of backcountry campers including a group
of Boy Scouts, carrying guns into the park.
Carrying a weapon in a national park is illegal, and hunting
is illegal in most national parks, including Yellowstone
Rick Mossman, Snake River subdistrict ranger, said weapons
violations inside the park are not uncommon. But lately
rangers have been catching more of them because of increased
backcountry patrols, he said.
The main objective of backcountry patrols, Mossman said, is
to look for food-storage violations "to prevent bear-human
interactions."
