How are your cricket spitting skills?
WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana -- Can you spit a cricket far enough to grab the attention of the French?
Katie Herrnstein can -- and did.
Herrnstein, 14, is a cricket spitting champion. She's been invited to Paris to display her unusual skills on television.
If you're scratching your head wondering what cricket spitting is, wonder no more. It's so easy almost anyone can do it -- if you can stomach the experience.
Just take the dead bug, place it in your mouth and take a deep breath (but don't swallow the critter).
Then, exhale HARD -- sending the little thing flying into the air, just like you would a spit ball.
Herrnstein spit her cricket 16 feet, 2 inches, far enough to win her the title of "junior women's champion."
The talented teen won her honor for the second straight year at Purdue University's annual Bug Bowl, a celebrated event where people display their abilities to do strange things with insects.
