Police made a surprising discovery outside the seat of government yesterday -- marijuana plants have sprouted at the House of Commons.
Two months after environmental activists dug up Parliament Square in a guerilla gardening protest, the small park near the Commons has sprouted with carrots, onions, marigolds and that weedy plant, marijuana.
During the May Day protest, 600 people descended onto Parliament Square, and the green protesters apparently cultivated a little cannabis along with the vegetables.
Royal Parks Police said the plants were identified by horticulturists as cannabis and police would clear them away with other plants and flowers.
