KIEV -- Ukrainian factory worker Leonid Mikula has set off on stilts from Donetsk for London in an attempt to set a stilt-walking record, Kievskie Vedemosti newspaper reported last week.
The Carpathian mountains in West Ukraine will be the biggest physical barrier along a route which runs via Budapest, Munich and Calais, Mikula said.
An experienced long-distance traveller, Mikula has walked from Afghanistan to the Arctic Ocean and biked from the Urals to the Bering Strait.
For this trip he is using stilts he constructed himself and which can be hooked together into a tent and bed for sleeping.
If Mikula's walk is successful, he will cover some 2500KM in 40 days. -- Sapa-DPA
