EVERETT, Massachusetts.
In a local elementary school, a teacher is alleged to having given
children his version of the lyrics to the song "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer". This version features a part in which Santa asks a gunman to shoot his wife.
These lyrics were part of a packet of Christmas songs given out by an unspecified teacher at Devens Elementary School this past week.
The song, renamed "Deadeye the Two-Gun Slinger," included the following lyric:
"Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa came to say, 'Deadeye with your gun so bright, won't you shoot my wife tonight?'"
An outraged mother, Theresa Schuesler, complained to school officials after her husband was shocked to hear their 8-year-old son singing the song last week arounnd their house. He was further shocked to find out the boy learned the song at school.
"This song is wrong," she said. "This song is so bad it should never have gone out."
School Superintendent Frederick Foresteire said the teacher would be "written up" by the principal, but was convinced an apology nor an explanation to the children
and parents was necessary as it would only serve "... to compound it more..."
