TIRANA, Albania - A poor couple's dream of owning a second-hand sofa was blown to bits when a grenade tucked into its wooden frame exploded as they unloaded
it. Ten people were injured by the explosion in a village in northern Albania, the poorest region of Europe's most impoverished nation. The grenade's safety pin was loosened by a bumpy ride from a local market. Thousands of weapons and tons of ammunition remain at large in Albania after army depots were plundered last year during anarchy that took the country to the brink of economic and political collapse.
