 Madness (6 years later) | | By: JSkills | Published: 09/11/2007 | | | |
| Six years ago, I stood in front of my TV with my mouth hanging open for what seemed like the entire morning. What happened that day was easily one of sickest things to occur in my lifetime. I remember seeing the towers fall down so quickly and neatly and feeling "that doesn't look right". It was surreal. Living and working in NYC, it hit home pretty hard. There were friends and relatives to make sure were still alive. And then there was the time we all spent trying to figure out what happened and more importantly, why.
I attempted to compose my thoughts and write about it the day after, here. It was a valiant effort given the information at hand, but in retrospect, pretty naive. I remember a conversation I had only a few days afterwards with a good friend of mine. He was (and still is) one of the smartest people I know. He was on his way into NYC with a bus full of his students for a field trip when it happened. Everyone was ok, but in talking about that day we were both angry and upset - but for different reasons.
I was upset for the same reasons most of the people in country were and (naturally) also wanted some kind of "justice" (or even revenge) on whoever was responsible. That Osama guy. But that's where things got weird. My good friend began to tell me, much like a parent has to tell a kid there is no Santa Clause, that the official story was bullshit. It was an "inside job". This was 2 days after it happened. Now mind you, in addition to being one of the brightest people I know, he is also one of the most well-read and informed people when it comes to world matters and politics. Regardless of that, what ensued at that point, and for the next couple of hours, was one of the most heated arguments we've ever been in. It almost went to fisticuffs at one point. I was outraged that he could even suggest such a thing. A guy I used to play basketball with was dead. The neighbor across the street who I rode the train with was dead. This hit too close to home and I sure as hell could not tolerate some wild explanation that only infuriated me even more.
We parted ways that night with me thinking he'd cracked. But he being who he is and me being who I am, I felt compelled to spend some time looking into what he'd said. The more I looked into it, the more people I found saying the same thing. He wasn't so crazy anymore I guess - unless they're all crazy? I kept reading - for years. It took a very long time of looking into this topic for me to get where I am now.
Many of you won't like it. Many of you are just here to laugh. I understand that. But you owe it to yourselves to at least evaluate the facts as they are. The laws of physics seem to have been broken once again.
If you check out the (free) videos here and can read this book or especially this DVD and still say you believe the entire official story, I'd be more than a little surprised.
I meant to make post this last year, but didn't feel like it was the right time. I'm not sure why, but now feels right. Tomorrow this won't be featured prominently on the site, it will be back to fart videos and penis photos.

Back Up, Back Up, Back Up
How many times have you been told to back up your hard drive, your photos, your mp3s ... your porn? I spend enough time online each day that I should know better, but noooooo. Do I heed this advice? Of course not. Why? Because it would never happen to me. Until about six months ago.
