 The USA, Now a Third-World Political Power | | By: ejdeyoe | Published: 01/08/2001 | | | |
| The US election from a Third World perspective ...
In our media, we hear daily events of third-world, and or, politically struggling countries fraudulant activities when it comes to elections. how corrupt 'other' people are, but it is not much different here in the US. Our children should study this event closely for it shows that Political Fraud IS NOT only a third world phenomena, it is strong here in the US.
1. Imagine that we read of an election occurring
anywhere in the third world in which the self-declared winner was the son of the former prime minister and that former prime minister was himself the former head of that nation's secret police (CIA).
2. Imagine that the self-declared winner lost the
popular vote but won based on some old colonial
holdover (electoral college) from the nation's
pre-democracy past.
3. Imagine that the self declared winner's 'victory' turned on disputed votes cast in a province governed by his brother!
4. Imagine that the poorly drafted ballots of one
district, a district heavily favoring the self-declared winner's opponent, led thousands of voters to vote for the wrong candidate.
5. Imagine that that members of that nation's most
despised caste, fearing for their lives and or
livelihoods, turned out in record numbers to vote in near-universal opposition to the self-declared
winner's candidacy.
6. Imagine that hundreds of members of that most despised caste were intercepted on their way to the polls by state police operating under the
authority of the self-declared winner's brother.
7. Imagine that six million people voted in the
disputed province and that the self-declared winner's 'lead' was only 327 votes. Fewer, certainly, than the vote counting machines' margin of error.
8. Imagine that the self-declared winner and his
political party opposed a more careful by-hand
inspection and re-counting of the ballots in the
disputed province or in its most hotly disputed
district.
9. Imagine that the self-declared winner, himself agovernor of a major province, had the worst human
rights record of any province in his nation and
actually led the nation in executions.
10. Imagine that a major campaign promise of the
self-declared winner was to appoint like-minded human rights violators to lifetime positions on the high court of that nation.
None of us would deem such an election to be representative of anything other than the self-declared winner's will-to-power. All of us, I imagine, would wearily turn the page thinking that it was another sad tale of pitiful pre/or anti-democracy peoples in some strange elsewhere.

Imagine how bad it would be if Al Gore was president. Imagine how long it would take for the secret police to cut your hands off for writing this in a real third world country. Imagine how bad you want to rip my head off you socialist piece of fucking shit. Now, imagine my big fucking gun because it would be the last thing you ever saw. We do not live in a democracy stupid ass, where we would vote on every issue. We live in a democratic republic, where we vote for people to understand the issues and vote accordingly. The idea of a democracy is great, but too slow in the decision process as well as expensive. If invaded, we would lose before we had a vote on whether or not to defend ourselves. And to the anon who doesn't have the balls to even put up a screen name, what did clinton do that made him great? Even his taste in women sucks.

But it embarrasses me that my fellow country men make such "asses" of themselves. The one man "dissing" Clinton, regardless of the Lewinski crisis. Bill Clinton was a great president. He graduated the top man in his class at Harvard. Until you morons prove you are worthy of complaining about the most realistic president we have had, quit complaining. Thank you. Tmmybomb has spoken

The U.S. uses the electoral college because we are a nation of states united. Each state has a say and just because one state has more citizens doesn't give it overall authority. The will of the state is more important than the will of the overall population. There is an even breaking ground where we give small states a little extra per population and large stats a little less per population. This makes it so that small states still have a role in elections. I believe it is the right way under our current conditions.
Btw Bush and Gore both suck. Gore is the better of the two however in my opinion.(I can't spell) With gore we will have higher energy costs and laws prohibiting guns. With Bush we will have abortions being banned and the death penalty being more recklessly enforced. We will also have much more enviornmental problems. The earth isn't a toy we should be tinkering with like we are. I also believe we are much more likely to go to war with bush. I'm not talking about peacekeeping wars. ( I wouldn't call them wars) I'm talking about wars that count. Wars where many ppl on both sides die. When asked if Bush thought russia, a nation with elected officals, was a friend or enemy he said he wasn't sure. I'm wondering about his views on china/india ect. who are much further off from being "friends". I also believe peacekeeping while not the thing we most want to do in the world is necessary. An unneccesary war could start in the middle east or anywhere where there is a lot of power involved and that would be the begining of wwIII. Everybody's national interests would be at stake.
Oil is power right now and we need to find alternatives to all the earths fossil fuels. If it wasn't for the oil/coal/natural gas industry the alternatives would have been long ago.
The death penalty isn't right. I believe it would be better to let a million guilty ppl go free than to kill one innocent person. Hopefully you think that also.
Bush didn't want a recount. It was determined by the courts that each county was going to decide what was/wasn't a vote. Gore had no say in that. The courts in florida did. Gore supported a state wide recount including republican counties. If counting was reckless I would imagine the republican counties would count anything that the democratic counties could.

For eight goddamn years I've endured the whining of holier-than-thou, conservative, "God"-fearing Republicans. Now I have to endure at least four years of whining from the touchy-feely, liberal, wounded inner child Democrats. Plus I get the bonus of hearing the oh-so-witty replies. The fact that anyone could defend either of these turds astounds me. I have a very hard time believing that the majority of America is as extreme one side or the other as the two majaor candidates. Most of us are probably somewhere in the middle. Hey, by all means lets kick the death penalty in to high gear, but please don't prevent some fifteen year old girl who stupidly got knocked up from at least avoiding one more addition to the exponentially growing, unwanted bastard population. Jeez. Christians should be thrilled that the little zygotes or fetuses get to go straight to heaven instead of enduring years of hell with an irresponsible mother and a part-time idiot of a dad. Amd yes, I do vote...in every election, not just "the big one". Even the "little" ones that make the real differences and I never vote part lines. I actually do research and make a well-informed choice. Imagine that! Pervert?!?..Hell, I'm a provert 'cause I'm damn good at it!

i think you're forgeting that the electoral college determines the winner of the election and that al "i invented the internet" gore was acctually supposed, according to numerous political analyists, to lose the popular vote but still win the electoral college. funny how when it turned out the other way he cries foul and starts begging for a recount, and lets not forget the fact that bush was not totally opposed to a recount, he just wanted gore's team of lawyers and political advisors to set some kind of standard for counting the fucking ballots. and last but not least. in the recount that is now going on, even though it won't make shit of a difference either way "dubya" is actually picking up votes in florida. so stick that up your whinning ass and shut the fuck up and let the man do his job.I am Testiclees: Lord of the Pants

I live in the disputed ballot aera it was pretty fucking clear to me how to vote. And lets tell everyone we did a manule recount. Twice! It was the third that Bush fought against. What about Gore fighting to keep out the votes of the men and women in the armed services? Or the close calls in other states that went uncontested to Gore with margins just as tight. (Under 10% for an intire state). You win some you loose some but who wants a cring kicking sore looser in the Whitehouse. WHy did they approve a ballot that they say was unfair? If it was ok before the election why was it not ok after? The people who wrote the constitution (Thomas Jefferson, et. al.) spent a long period of ime debating the electoral college. They were smarter that you or me, of for that matter most of our current polliticians. Al Gore forgot that we live in a republic not a democracy. Long live the Republic. And may God protect us in the future from communists like Clinton and Gore who want to take our FREEDOM away.

imagine the "self-declared winner's" opponent declare that votes of thousands of people do not count because they do not favor him. then imagine the opponent allowing them back in when they are losing in the polls, only to select the very few that voted for him. somebody get me jesse jackson and al sharpton, i think that there is some racist issues going down in the way the ballot was made in florida. bye the way, has anyone seen the final election results for the other states, i live in california and they gave gore they said that gore won california with 11% of the precints reporting and gore was behind by about 20,000 votes. the best way to curb all of this is to not openly show how the votes are doing because saying that one candidate is winning by a lanslide without saying only 10% of the precints reporting does have an effect on voters in the west coast

but the real scandal here, or at least that is how it is seen here in Europe, is the interfeering of the Supreme Court. Well known right wing members, first stopped the recounting to then say there was no time to do it again. Where is the separation of the three powers? Now that is something to really worry about. If you cannot trust the Supreme Court, who will you trust?

my message about the election was just reporting what i saw... i wrote-in McCain for the presidency, i could have cared less which one of the losers won it. so, i am not saying Bush should not be president, or that Gore should, but the coincidences that stood out are clearly something that we as a society would look at another country and dismiss easily as a 'third-world' scandle, or corruption again in the political worlds of places who just aren't quite as good as we are... well, the events may be just coincidence, but it sure looks sketchy if you add it all up... that is all i am saying, i could give a shit less who is our president, really... i just want people to see something that they might not have seen before, and think a little bit about it... just because i see outside the lines doesn't mean that i am pro-Gore, or anti-Bush, it only means that shit makes sense to me."i am what i am and that is all that i am, but not all that i can be."

Your message is a complete load of bullshit. No wrongdoing has been proven on the part of George W. Bush or any party acting on his behalf. Your accusations are totally prejudiced by the liberal media's libelous assaults on W's character. In fact the only wrongdoing in the Fl. election was on the part of Al Gore, by requesting a recount in several key democratic counties which he had won. By Florida law, only the loser of a county may request a recount. So, in fact G.W.Bush was the legal president on election night. Furthermore, George W. Bush isn't violating human rights by allowing executions, he is merely allowing Texas law to be carried out on criminals that deserve their punishment. I don't think you know what human rights violation is. If you are referring to conservative individuals that refuse to kowtow to the liberal notion of political correctness, you are greatly mistaken. If you want to know about human rights violations, just look up China. A country to whom, incidentally, has been granted "most favored nation" status by President Clinton. Human rights, indeed!!der attentater
