Brewery Produces Alcoholic Employee
SAU PAULO - Residing in the What Were The Odds? category, a Brazilian court ordered Brahma Brewing Company to pay $30,000 in damages plus a life-time pension to their former senior brewer Bernd Naveke. Unable to work due to his alcoholism problem, the brewer endured twenty years of tasting where he was required to drink six to eight liters of beer each day beginning in the morning. His daily intake was as high as 3.1 gallons per day forcing him to retire at the age of 40. Naveke´s lawyers stressed Brahma´s negligence for failing to warn him of the risks associated with the job.
