Football Sized Tumor Removed From Man's Face
MIAMI, Florida - Doctors at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital spent 10 1/2 hours removing the 18-inch tumor from a 37-year-old Haitian peasant farmer. Dieuvius Morancy told doctors he had been living with the football-sized tumor protruding from his face for two or three years. According to doctors, the benign tumor, called an ameloblas-toma, probably began growing 20 years ago and originated from the same cells that ordinarily form teeth. Morancy met with doctors from Atlanta that were visiting Haiti on a medical mission earlier this year. They feared that he may die with treatment and immediately arranged for medical visits and surgery.
