Canadian Prime Minister Gets a Pie in the Puss
PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND, Canada - Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretian recently got a cream pie in the face during a visit to Prince Edward Island. The incident occurred at the Charlottetown Civic Center, where Chretien was attending a local exhibition. The attacker, who later identified himself as Evan Brown, walked up to Chretien as police were opening a way for him through the crowd and slapped the pie right into his kisser. Brown then ran off, but the Royal Canadian Mounted Police caught up with him moments later and led him away. Chretien was visibly shaken and angry, but unhurt. Aides quickly led him to a nearby washroom where he cleaned the pie off his face. He did not comment on the incident. As Brown, 23, was being escorted away, he told reporters that he belonged to the PEI (Prince Edward Island) Pie Brigade, and had made the attack as a protest from students, a protest for people on welfare and a protest against federal government´s support for genetically modified food. Brown was later charged with assault but was released on bail on condition that he stay away from the prime minister.
